BRIARS MEMBERSHIP
Although we have a phenomenal championship 18 hole golf course, we've always believed that our greatest asset is the members themselves. As a relatively small, private golf club, we embrace a community first approach, creating an environment for our members to not only play golf, but to develop relationships, friendships and indulge in the general camaraderie that makes golf such an amazing activity. For many people, joining a private golf club is a lifestyle choice, one that promotes active living, personal connections and a sense of belonging.
Here's a look at a few things that sets us apart...
Private Golf Club
Established in 1922, The Briars Golf Club has been a Membership based, private Club since that time. Over 100 years. That is a long, rich history and tradition. Members and their guests enjoy the quaint Clubhouse, excellent service and premier Championship golf course in a relaxed and friendly environment. The only non-members that can play at the
Club, other than guests of members, are guests of the Briars Resort.
Capped Membership
To many people, and especially the Members, this is one of the best "features" of the Club. We keep a "capped" Membership, which translates into easy tee time accessibility and uncrowded fairways. Every golfers dream! Four hour rounds of golf are not uncommon at the Club. The Club also limits outside events and tournaments, adding to the accessibility to the tees and availability of the Club for Members and their guests.
Not For Profit
The Briars Golf Club is set up as a not-for-profit corporation, which contributes to the overal atmosphere of the property. With a financial goal of breaking even each year, it ensures we're focused on serving our members first. With a member-operated Board of Directors (and committees), our members themselves are on the front lines of making decisions and defining the direction of the club.
World Renowned Architect
Originally designed as a 9 hole course by Canadian golf course architect Stanley Thompson, additional holes were added in the early 70's by Thompson's "right hand man" Robbie Robinson to make the course the challenging but fair test of golf that it is today. The 18 holes meander through tree lined fairways and across the beautiful Black River
through a pristine cottage setting environment.
The Reciprocal Program
(click here to view program details)
Talk about an avid golfers dream! Members can play at 14 other private golf Clubs in the GTA. Many of them up to twice per month.
Friendly Environment
Members wait anxiously all winter to return to "their" Club. To see their friends again and to receive a hearty welcome back from the staff and management. To stand up on that 1st tee
and start off another great season at The Briars Golf Club. There is a sense of belonging for both members and staff.
Affordability
The Entrance Fee to join the Club is $10,500 (if a person goes on a multi-year payment plan). This fee further drops to $9,000 if paid in full up front. This is a one-time fee, with all of this amount going into a Capital Fund. That Fund is used to make improvements to the course and facilities as required.
After joining the Club by paying the one-time Entrance Fee, Members pay annual dues each year. Depending on the desired membership category, Annual Dues for 2025 range from $2,575 to $3,820 (all fees are + HST).
Compare these Rates and Fees to other private golf Clubs of the same nature and caliber as The Briars Golf Club and you will quickly realize the Club provides tremendous value. The Club offer numerous Payment Options on both the Entrance Fee and Annual Dues.
